Theatre in Paris Guide to the Top Musicals Playing in Paris 2026-2027
In Paris every year is a good one for musicals - but this season is something special! This blog will outline 5 of our favourite musicals, with all of the information that you need to get your tickets. From award-winning bestsellers like Lion King: The Musical, to the brilliantly hilarious Notre-Dame de Paris, there’s truly something for everyone. We’re sure that you’ll love them - because we do too!
1. The Young Girls of Rochefort
Until 8 March 2026
In French surtitled in English
Step into the Swinging Sixties with The Young Girls of Rochefort at Théâtre du Lido. This production sees Jacques Demy and Michel Legrand’s cult classic 1967 film reimagined for the theatre, full of colour, retro charm, and music. With its feel-good energy, infectious songs, and brilliant choreography, the show follows two sisters with big ambitions and even bigger hearts, navigating life as a young girl in a seaside town. It’s a love letter to romance, creativity, and the magic of musicals – all wrapped in a swirl of 60s glamour.
Whether you're a longtime fan of the film or discovering it for the first time, this production promises an evening of pure joy. But be warned - the tunes will be stuck in your head long after the final curtain!
2. Lion King: The Musical
Until 9 August 2026
In French surtitled in English
Now in its fifth season at Théâtre Mogador, the globally successful Lion King: The Musical shows no sign of slowing down!
This theatrical adventure will transport you to the vibrant African savannah, through song, dance, puppetry, acrobatics and more, reuniting you with beloved characters like Simba, Mufasa, Timon, and Pumbaa. This production is not just visually stunning. It is a timeless story of friendship, love, sacrifice, family, and bravery, guaranteed to have everyone - no matter how big or small - on the edge of their seat!
3. Josephine Baker the Musical
Until 25 January 2026
In French
Now playing at the legendary Théâtre Bobino, Josephine Baker-Le Musical is a vibrant tribute to one of Paris’s most well-known performers. This French-language musical retraces Josephine Baker’s extraordinary journey from her early life in the United States to her meteoric rise as a star of the Parisian music-hall scene in the 1920s. Featuring lively musical numbers, elegant period costumes, and dynamic choreography, the show also highlights Baker’s role in the French Resistance and her fight against racial discrimination. A must-see for audiences interested in musicals in Paris, cultural history, and legendary female artists.
4. Chicago at Casino de Paris
Until 26 April 2026
In French surtitled in English
Slick, sexy, and seedy than ever - Chicago is back.
Step into the smoky, jazz-fuelled world of 1920s Chicago, where fame is fleeting, justice is for sale, and murder is just another route to the spotlight. With killer choreography, scandalous charm, and a positively wicked score, this iconic musical is a masterclass in showbiz seduction.
Follow the sultry Roxie Hart and the fierce Velma Kelly as they vie for headlines, backed by the smooth-talking lawyer Billy Flynn, in a tale of ambition, betrayal, and all that jazz. With its minimalist staging, glittering costumes, and Bob Fosse’s signature moves, Chicago is as stylish as it is subversive.
From the first note to the final bow, Chicago is a dangerously fun night out at Casino de Paris. If you’re looking for tickets, you can find more information on their website.
