The first Expat Night events brought us to see intimate musicals, modern comedies, and some classic French drama. They were such a sell-out success that we’ve decided to create a monthly event!

Story: Expat Theatre Night: The Art of Breaking Up

In June, we're bringing our Expat theatre buff friends to see a brand new hilarious farce, The Art of Breaking Up playing at the Théâtre Montparnasse in the bustling Montparnasse district of course. Before the show, we will gather in the theatre's lovely bar to share a drink (included with the ticket!) and catch up on all things Paris.

About the show:
What do you get when you try to break up with your cabaret singing mistress the day of your marriage to a wealthy French heiress? Fernand de Bois D'Enghien is about to find out just that in this intricate web set in the glamorous 1950s, the height of the Parisian cabarets. Take a trip to the past, visit Paris and its famous music hall nightlife, and laugh the night away as this unexpected plot unfolds! The ever-popular farce by Georges Feydeau, The Art of Breaking Up will leave audiences in stitches as the complexities of this music hall histoire d'amour reveal themselves.

The Théâtre Montparnasse was designed and constructed at the end of the nineteenth century by the architect responsible for none other than a portion of New York's Statue of Liberty, it's no wonder the venue is now classified as a historical monument!

The theatre passed through a handful of managers throughout the 1900s before falling into the apt hands of Comédie Française member Myriam Feune de Colombi, who would add a restaurant and second smaller theatre to the venue and oversees the establishment to this day. The Théâtre Montparnasse is situated in the bustling Montparnasse neighborhood of Paris, on a small street lined with restaurants and theatres. With its varied show programme and onsite restaurant complete with panoramic vue of the quintissential Parisian street, its truly a Parisian venue not to be missed. The venue welcomes close to 150K spectators in 2017, and it's original plays have won many Molière Awards, the French theatre equivalent to the Oscars!
