Theatre in lockdown - week 16

As restrictions ease further in Paris, we’re finding the balance between enjoying our new taste of freedom, and still remaining indoors when we can. Thankfully, the online theatre scene is still thriving, enabling us to experience the best of both worlds as we wait for theatres to reopen in the coming weeks and months. Here’s a rundown of all the theatre we’ve been enjoying during our week both in, and outdoors.  

Shows

This week, we’ve been proud to partner with Contact, the first show we’ve welcomed to our box-office since the start of confinement. This innovative performance will lead you through the streets of Paris in an immersive theatre production never before experienced. Check our website for tickets and more information!

Speaking of which, check out what La Huchette is doing in order to prepare for their return to theatre on 17th July! We can’t wait to be back at one of our favourite venues.

Streaming

This week was yet another great one for show streaming, starting with what the Opera de Paris’ YouTube channel had to offer. Check out this performance of an enchanting ballet choreographed by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, the award-winning Dutch choreographer. Available until 5th July. 

Additionally, the Royal Opera House published the Royal Ballet’s performance of Woolf Works as a part of their #OurHouseToYourHouse series. Check it out here.

The National Theatre's performance of this week was their 2016 production of Les Blancs. It opened to rave reviews at the time and is continuing to remotely wow people across the globe today, and for good reason. An inspiring tale about ceasing independence, it’s certainly one you don’t want to miss.

Museums

We’re huge fans of digital museum tours, what could be better than visiting such fascinating venues without the summer crowds? We loved this tour of the Louvre, who are set to reopen their doors to the public on 6th July!
