Once known to be an illustrious church in comparison to others, assembled by orders of king Louis XV in the 16th century, Saint- Étienne du Mont today still holds the title of the one of the most breathtaking churches in Paris. Especially considering it is the only one in the city out of 9 chapels in France that still contains a rood screen completely intact.

Located smack in the center in one of the frequently visited areas in Paris, Saint- Étienne du Mont is based in the Latin Quarter near the Seine River, a numerous amount of restaurants, and other places to enjoy. If you are a lover of the classical arts, you’re in luck because Euromusic Productions has arranged an array of classical musical concerts in the prestigious chapel. Difficile de manquer l’église de Saint-Étienne du Mont, au cœur du Quartier Latin, qui vous éblouira par sa magnifique architecture dont la construction débuta en 1492 pour finalement s’achever en 1626. Puisque son érection dura plusieurs siècles, si vous la regardez attentivement, vous apercevrez que sur l’extérieur comme à l’intérieur se marient des motifs de styles gothique et Renaissance, ce qui en fait un édifice unique. Construite à la demande de Louis XV, l’ambitieuse église de Saint-Étienne du Mont remplaça l’abbaye Sainte-Geneviève après sa destruction durant la révolution de 1807.

Possédant de nombreuses caractéristiques uniques, l’une des plus rares est son jubé richement sculpté (il n’en reste plus que 9 en France, dont celui de Saint-Étienne du Mont). Les jubés étaient courants dans les églises construites entre le XIVe et le XVIe siècle. Il s’agit d’un ornement qui sépare le chœur de la nef. Ses vitraux datant du XVIe siècle et encore intacts s’admirent également de près. Les portes de Saint-Étienne du Mont sont toujours ouvertes au public, qui peut y entrer et apprécier son élégance. Un excellent moyen de profiter de ce lieu atemporel est d’assister à l’un des nombreux concerts nocturnes de musique classique qui y sont organisés. What do I do when I get to the church?

We invite you to arrive 30 minutes before the beginning of the show and present your voucher at the front desk. The church's English-speaking staff members will guide you to your seats. Please note that the performances at the Saint- Étienne begin precisely on time.

Does the venue have a specific dress code?

For Parisian operas, ballets, and classical music concerts, the dress tends to be a bit fancier than in other venues, so feel free to have a little fun and dress to impress. Many Parisians will arrive directly from work, dressed in casual chic attire. Generally, elegant casual wear is required, jackets are recommended for men.
