We’ve officially made it to the end of our thirteenth week of confinement, and our friends in the Parisian arts industry have certainly made it a pleasant one. From museum tours to online streaming, here’s what we’ve been loving over the past few days.
Museums and tours
While it may seem out of the ordinary experiencing fine art online, worry not! The Museum of Impressionism will make it feel like you’re there in person. Have a look at their interactive tour of some of the most important impressionist works. It’s completely free, and anyone is welcome. Check out their website for more information.
In a similar vein, the Museum of Fine Arts in Lyon has uploaded high definition images of some of the most significant works they have to offer on their website. Head on over to Google Arts and Culture and have a browse for yourself.
Streaming
It was yet another excellent week in the world of theatre streaming, one of the main reasons being the National Theatre’s YouTube channel. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for future productions. Next up: Small Island.
If you’re a fan of opera or want to experience it for the first time, Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohème is a great place to start. This production is available on the Opéra de Paris website to be streamed until 14th June. You don’t want to miss it!
If the works of Giacomo Puccini are up your street, his masterpiece Il Trittico is available until 19th June to be streamed via the Royal Opera House’s YouTube channel. It’s completely free of charge and includes English subtitles. Check it out for yourself.
Additionally, if you head on over to the Royal Opera House’s YouTube channel at 8:30 pm on the 13th June, you’ll be able to see the Royal Opera and the Royal Ballet join forces for a live concert. We can’t wait!
The next production in the show must go on series is one of our favourites -The Wiz. Starring Queen Latifah and Mary J. Blige, it’s a spectacle you won’t forget. Premiering on the evening of Friday 12th June, it’s a great show to factor into your weekend!
