Of course you've heard of "The Great Gatsby"! F. Scott Fitzgerald, the author of the famous book-turned-film was born as Francis Scott Fitzgerald. He is an American novelist, short story writer, and a playwright! A prominent writer during the Jazz Age, Fitzgerald is also known as one of the great “lost writers” of the Roaring Twenties ("les Années folles" or the "crazy years" in French) and has contributed famous works such as This Side of ParadiseThe Beautiful and DamnedTender Is the Night, and of course, The Great Gatsby, which has also been turned into several films, including the most recent directed by Baz Luhrmann and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan.

Amongst his famous novels F. Scott Fitzgerald also wrote successful plays such as The Vegetable From President to Postman, The Girl From Lazy J, and the screenplay of The Three Comrades. He was one of the few novelists to take risks with writing style at the time. Of course, every writer and playwright has their own inspiration and muse, and like many other international writers, Fitzgerald was in love with Paris. He was part of the American expat group who often made trips to Paris for inspiration, including fellow writer, Ernest Hemingway whom he initially met at Dingo Bar in Montparnasse. The two were often regulars at Café de la Rotonde, also located in Montparnasse, where you can find many comedies like ‪Addition, Molière In Spite of Myself!

Fitzgerald's love for Paris can be seen among other great works, such as the film Midnight In Paris, in which Tom Hiddletson plays Fitzgerald, as well as in the novel, The Paris Wife by Paula McLain, who makes a reference to the author.
