Highlights: R·ONDE·S by Pierre Rigal

Step into the circle! With R·ONDE·S, presented on May 20 and 21, 2026, choreographer Pierre Rigal pays tribute to an ancestral and universal dance: the round dance. Inspired by both the trajectory of the stars and the cycle of the seasons, this circular form becomes the heart of a collective, physical, and sensory experience. Rigal creates a hypnotic and inclusive work where the repetition of gestures draws dancers — and the audience — into a shared, almost ritualistic movement.

On stage, eight performers from the dance company dernière minute (Ismaël Belabid-Lenoir, Camille Hinsinger, David Mazón, Camilo Sarasa Molina, Maé Nayrolles, Jacob Neff, Léa Pérat, Emma Rouaix), a composer-musician, and a singer-musician explore the essence of this timeless dance. Together, they compose a unique choreographic form, both contemporary and popular, built upon vibrant musicalities blending acoustic sound and amplification.

R·ONDE·S subtly questions the relationship between the individual and the group, as the synchronization of bodies creates an immediate sharing of glances, rhythms, and connections. Rigal, joined by Roy Genty and Mélanie Chartreux in dramaturgy, reimagines tradition to invent a folklore of the present. The piece’s communicative energy transforms the stage into a space of union where everyone can reconnect with a collective, sensory, and joyful memory.

This performance, at the crossroads of contemporary dance and participatory experience, invites the audience not just to watch… but to join the dance.

But who was this famous Silvia Monfort, after whom a theatre was named?

Not surprisingly, she was a great French actress who was born in Paris in 1923 and died in 1991. She was a member of the French Resistance, an actress, a novelist, a director and a theatre director. Silvia Monfort was one of the greatest interpreters of Racine's Phèdre.

The theatre that bears her name, the Théâtre Silvia Monfort, built in the heart of Georges Brassens Park, is now a genuine cultural venue with a rich and varied programme, resolutely oriented towards new authors and theatrical forms. Added to this are the two plus points of the Théâtre Silvia Monfort, which on sunny days make it a place not to be missed: its green terrace and cosy bar, a real meeting place like no other in Paris.

Originally set up in the Marais under the name Carré Thorigny, the Théâtre Silvia Monfort as we know it today moved into the former abattoirs of Vaugirard in 1979.
