Highlights: Immaqaa, ici peut-être by Mathurin Bolze

From 5 to 14 June, the Théâtre du Rond-Point will host Immaqaa, ici peut-être, the latest creation by Mathurin Bolze, a leading figure in contemporary circus. The artist continues his journey through rare and silent territories, where raw nature becomes a source of inspiration, sensation, and reflection.

Immaqaa – which means “maybe” in Inuktitut – evokes climate uncertainty, the mysteries of ice, endless night, and flickering light. It is also an invitation to seek one’s own magnetic North: that intimate and mysterious direction that guides our lives, sometimes enlightening us… sometimes misleading us.

With his nine performers, Mathurin Bolze invents a sensory language blending circus, theatre, movement, and visual poetry. Imaginary landscapes take shape on stage, true playgrounds where one leaps, rises, and flies. True to his aerial and springing style, he creates a timeless escape, both physical and introspective.

Immaqaa, ici peut-être is a show accessible to all, requiring no prior knowledge or references. Young and old, curious and dreamers alike are invited to follow this poetic expedition into the unknown – to feel, imagine, and reflect.

It’s a rare kind of artist that can take the desolate, barren ice scape of the North Pole, and transform it into something magical, something powerful; a north that will guide us, wherever we go.

History and Fun Facts about Théâtre du Rond-Point

If you ever want to feel the pulse of the French theatre scene, the Théâtre du Rond-Point is the place to be! But which roundabout or "rond-point" is it exactly? It's one of the most famous roundabouts in Paris, located near the Champs-Elysées, smaller than the famous Etoile roundabout under the Arc de Triomphe. Since 1981, it has attracted a host of directors from all over the world and a host of people with a passion for theatre. A major venue for contemporary creation since 1991, the Rond-Point does not programme "what people like, but what they don't yet know they like", according to Jean-Michel Ribes, the theatre's former director. Since 2023, Laurence de Magalhaes and Stéphane Ricordel have taken over the reins of this theatre, which is still rooted in contemporary creation and focuses on living authors.
