Do you love fado or are is this your first time hearing about it?
Here's a great opportunity to explore this classic Portuguese style without taking a plane. Fado has come right to the Champs-Élysées for you, as it takes centre stage at the Théâtre du Rond-Point.

Bate Fado is a creation by the choreographic duo Jonas&Lander. This dance show explores the rhythms and traditions of fado, a Portuguese musical genre full of melancholy and emotion.

On stage, four dancers, four musicians and a fado singer will take you on a journey through the history of fado, from its popular origins to its contemporary forms. The powerful yet graceful choreography is inspired by traditional fado movements, but reinterpreted with a modern twist.

Bate Fado is not simply a re-enactment of folklore. It is, above all, a dialogue between tradition and modernity, in which the rhythms of the fado blend with contemporary influences. Choreographers Jonas&Lander play with the codes of Fado to create a work that dialogues with the audience.

Bate Fado is a true celebration of Portuguese culture. The show highlights the beauty and richness of fado, Portugal's unique musical heritage. The artists on stage, all of Portuguese origin, share their passion for this music with contagious fervour and emotion.

The subdued lighting, traditional costumes and powerful voice of the fado singer create an atmosphere that invites contemplation and escape.
This poetic show is sure to touch your heart and leave a lasting impression.

Théâtre du Rond-Point

If you ever want to feel the pulse of the French theatre scene, the Théâtre du Rond-Point is the place to be! But which roundabout or "rond-point" is it exactly? It's one of the most famous roundabouts in Paris, located near the Champs-Elysées, smaller than the famous Etoile roundabout under the Arc de Triomphe. Since 1981, it has attracted a host of directors from all over the world and a host of people with a passion for theatre. A major venue for contemporary creation since 1991, the Rond-Point does not programme "what people like, but what they don't yet know they like", according to Jean-Michel Ribes, the theatre's former director. Since 2023, Laurence de Magalhaes and Stéphane Ricordel have taken over the reins of this theatre, which is still rooted in contemporary creation and focuses on living authors.
