HIGHLIGHTS: À CIEL OUVERT

Cirque Aïtal's À ciel ouvert, presented under a big top in the gardens of the Théâtre du Rond-Point, is a work that sublimates the art of modern circus. The founding duo, Victor Cathala and Kati Pikkarainen, transport us into a world where technical virtuosity meets raw, touching poetry.

The show takes place in a pared-down scenic space, where the acrobatic prowess is enhanced by a minimalist staging. This simplicity allows all the attention to be focused on the performances of the artists, who defy the laws of gravity with great ease. The main duo, Cathala and Pikkarainen, impress with their complicity and mastery of movement, offering moments of grace and tension.

The acts are varied and include disciplines such aerobatics, balancing and acrobatics. Live music accompanies the acts, with compositions that oscillate between haunting melodies and catchy rhythms.
The intimate atmosphere of the big top, set in the heart of the gardens, creates a unique closeness between the performers and the audience and reinforces the feeling of immersion into this magical universe.

Cirque Aïtal's À ciel ouvert is a deeply moving, spectacular show, full of humour and grace, where the purity of acrobatics meets the poetry of a shared moment. A beautiful nod to the traditional circus!

History and Fun Facts about Théâtre du Rond-Point

If you ever want to feel the pulse of the French theatre scene, the Théâtre du Rond-Point is the place to be! But which roundabout or "rond-point" is it exactly? It's one of the most famous roundabouts in Paris, located near the Champs-Elysées, smaller than the famous Etoile roundabout under the Arc de Triomphe. Since 1981, it has attracted a host of directors from all over the world and a host of people with a passion for theatre. A major venue for contemporary creation since 1991, the Rond-Point does not programme "what people like, but what they don't yet know they like", according to Jean-Michel Ribes, the theatre's former director. Since 2023, Laurence de Magalhaes and Stéphane Ricordel have taken over the reins of this theatre, which is still rooted in contemporary creation and focuses on living authors.
