Story: Le Montespan

In 1663, Louis-Henri de Pardaillan, Marquis de Montespan, and the beautiful Françoise de Rochechouart married, uniting their destinies. However, their marital bliss was overshadowed by mounting debts, forcing them to look for desperate solutions to the financial impasse. The Marquis embarked on a perilous journey to join the army of Louis XIV, hoping to curry favour with the Sun King and solve their problems.

While the Marquis de Montespan was away, fate played a cruel trick on him. Françoise, his loving wife, became the favourite of King Louis XIV, plunging the court into a turmoil of love. The Sun King, famous for his amorous appetites, has fallen in love with the charming Françoise, sparking off a bitter rivalry between the sovereign and the Marquis.

The Marquis de Montespan, refusing to be defeated by the pangs of betrayal, rose up against the King to win back his beloved. He waged a relentless war to win back his wife's love, renouncing all the favours granted to him as a royal cuckold. His most emblematic act was to adorn his carriage with gigantic horns, a striking symbol of his situation.
